What it is
Ongoing virtual mentorship and assessments from a dedicated Prairie POCUS instructor that’s:
- Tailored to your POCUS objectives
- Accessible anywhere with an internet connection
- Data-driven based on comprehensive software analytics
Why
While everyone’s clinical POCUS journey is unique there are a few common scenarios everyone encounters when performing POCUS without direct expert supervision:
- Repeated acquisition errors that may lead to dangerous patient outcomes or result in sub-optimal image quality for interpretation
- Unfamiliar ultrasound findings and pathology
- Uncertainty with patient care decisions based on ultrasound findings and interpretation
Often times an experienced POCUS practitioner can quickly help in any of these scenarios. Unfortunately, not everyone has local POCUS expertise available to them. Even if there is local expertise, the nature of busy clinical environments makes it challenging for everyone to get the ongoing mentorship that’s needed.
How it works
1) Initial instructor meeting
Align on goals, exam types, assessment schedule and workflow.
This will take place over a live video meeting.
2) Periodic virtual assessments
This is where the bulk of your mentorship activities will take place.
This all happens asynchronously with your instructor so you can scan, upload and perform your self-assessments when it’s most convenient for you.
You’ll receive assessment reports from your instructor and your competency profile will be continuously updated.
3) Concluding instructor meeting
Review your progress, discuss any remaining competency gaps, and receive final instructor insights.
This will take place over a live video meeting.
What you get out of this
In addition to growing your POCUS skills you’ll also get a user account to PRESUNA – a virtual ultrasound software platform that allows you to:
- Archive your scans from anywhere with an internet connection
- Create and grow your digital logbook of scans
- View your longitudinal competency metrics and POCUS Prairie assessment report
