Like a full season of The Pitt in a day! For ER docs who are intimidated by the thought of having to do any one of these procedures (queue YouTube search in the resus bay…), the hands-on practice of some of the most significant procedures we can be faced with is a game-changer, particularly for those working in smaller centres/rural settings where there is no one else to call in. I hope to never need to use the majority of them, but am so grateful for such a high-fidelity simulation opportunity to feel better prepared in the moment! My patients will undoubtedly benefit from it!

This course was meant to augment a POCUS fellowship for me and get more hands on practice specifically for vascular access. I was absolutely not disappointed. The teaching around vascular access was not only useful for lines but was foundational skills that are applicable to so many POCUS procedures. The initial teaching on models was useful for getting the tactile skills and the cadaveric system was unbelievable in its utility. There is a low learner – teacher ratio to ensure high quality teaching and adjustment. We were able to get more repetition sets in the skill than I had hoped.

My objective in participating in the Vascular Access Prairie PoCUS course was to enhance my proficiency in obtaining central access. As a general surgeon, I have the ability to place a central line, yet I lacked confidence in executing the procedure. Following the completion of this course, I now perform central line access with ease and assurance. The course not only met but surpassed my expectations. The instructors demonstrated extensive knowledge and fostered an exceptional learning atmosphere throughout the weekend. I highly recommend this course to anyone involved in central lines.

I completed EDE2 and MSK course this weekend. I was the only student, and Prairie POCUS did not cancel. Thank you for this! For scanning and labs there was a small group, and we quickly became colleagues. The atmosphere of the course set by the instructors was super positive. We had a lot of time to ask questions, review key points crucial to the course. The instructors were extremely responsive to each learners needs, background . We also had several standardized patients, we practiced multiple scanning techniques, great U/S machine ratio. Most U/S courses don’t provide this level of quality

Excellent course! First shift back today and was able to make the difficult diagnosis of mitral valve endocarditis causing shock in a young hypotensive patient! Seeing a full IVC allowed me to not fluid overload her (she already had subclinical pulmonary edema), and her cardiac views showed a working LV, no RV dilation and a vegetation I might not have otherwise noticed without the knowledge gained in the course. Thanks so much for the practical knowledge you’ve imparted.

I cannot believe how far my ultrasound skills have come in the past 4 days. Well organized, smooth running, a truly fantastic experience, highly recommended. This was an excellent course! The introduction of a gross lab component to practice joint aspirations under direct US guidance has increased my confidence in these procedures tremendously. All of the scans were covered with ample time, instructors and models to refine scanning techniques. Notably, the staff at Prairie Pocus were incredibly accommodating of my family needs. I was easily able to step away to pump breast milk in a private environment with the full confidence the instructors would help me catch up on anything I had missed afterwards. Looking forward to the next 2 courses!

They provided a great, non-judgemental learning environment and ensured I learnt the skills and knowledge to the leave course with IP certification. As a practicing physician I was able to use these skills immediately and felt confident to do so. The course provided an abundance of observed scanning time and a large number of SP’s. Would highly recommend and will be taking future courses.

At the beginning of the course, I was skeptical that I’d get 50 scans of each type and feel confident with the material by the end of the 4 days. Boy, was I wrong! The Prairie Pocus modules were entertaining and had detailed information to get started. The multidisciplinary instructor team was absolutely phenomenal by providing individualized teaching tips to help you get the best views and techniques. I was impressed by how the course organized so many volunteer models for us and sometimes the instructors volunteered as a models as well! I learned a LOT. Will definitely consider EDE2 next!

Everyone on the team was patient and took the time to give us amazing teaching pearls on cases that we can encounter in our day to day practice in the ED or the ward ! There knowledge on Pocus is OUTSTANDING! They know what they are talking about ! This course gave me the tools to use the ED US or my butterfly with CONFIDENCE on a daily basis and will be now part of my P/E -ABCEDE

I want to thank Ankit, Andrea and the entire Prairie PoCUS team for an exceptionally well put together EDE bootcamp course. Going from a complete ultrasound naive (having never scanned a patient) to a certified Independent Practitioner could only have been possible with their meticulous coordination and organization. I felt very welcome and the instructors were undeniably knowledgeable. Leaving this weekend, I feel confident in my ability to make clinically impactful decisions with bedside PoCUS.

The instructors are thorough, the course intensive and the examinations rigorous. You are not given a pass mark for attending but based on your performance. I am a full-time anesthesiologist who was looking to incorporate cardiac POCUS into my practice. I was looking for a course with as much hands on as possible and a low student to instructor ratio. This course did not disappoint. Everything from the course preparation material, lectures and overall administration of the course was excellent. The repetition of hands on learning under the guidance of very qualified instructors enabled me to quickly become proficient in cardiac POCUS and lung assessment. Learning gallbladder, bladder, DVT and renal assessment was a bonus. Highly recommend!

I took the 4-day IP certification bootcamp in Regina in July 2022. The entire thing was run very smoothly. There was more than enough opportunities to get all the required scans under supervision, and the instructors taught theory and technique thoroughly during the course. I would recommend this course to anyone looking to get their IP certification.

Found that all the instructors were extremely flexible and helpful (eg. getting people out early who had flights)
Material was very well taught and by the end you really feel like you get it as far as performing and interpreting the cardiac and lung scans they teach
Definitely recommend the course if you want to improve your skill and understanding

I took the POCUS boot camp course last year and it was a fantastic course that helped me refresh my anatomy, build my ultrasound skills ( went from ultrasound naive to an independent practitioner!) , and sharpen my clinical decision making. The instructors were exceptional and have a very personalized approach to teaching which made learning so enjoyable!
The skills I acquired helped me a lot during my time at the ICU in Canada where I was able to use POCus as part of my physical examination when presenting patients in rounds. I high recommend this course!

I enrolled in Bahrain’s first Prairie PoCUS bootcamp in 2023 as a medical student. After gaining certification I successfully diagnosed a pneumothorax during my summer elective using PoCUS. It validated the program’s training. Also, the instructors are excellent educators who genuinely care about producing safe and competent graduates. They instilled confidence and consistency in my approach to ultrasound. I highly recommend this course because PoCUS is becoming a standard of care. It won’t be long before physicians are as familiar with ultrasound as they are with their stethoscope.

In the beginning I was a bit disappointed when I started watching the first course video, because I didn’t know the course aims before hand. However, the course changed my thought 180 degrees. I now appreciate the importance of learning these skills in order to better decide what is best for individual patients. It’s not only an extension of the physical examination, but if truly positive a very useful means for deciding the acuteness of conditions and how fast one should act for the sake of the patient.
